I was pleasantly surprised when I drove by today to see demo unit onsite ready to scrape the land tomorrow. Threatening I would bring the media in really got them going.. :) They will still need to deal with the Work Cover Inspector though!

Demolition company sucks...
I've lodged a complaint with Work Cover and the Department of Fair Trading. An inspector from Work Cover will be onsite.. hopefully these jerks get a big fat fine for leaving asbestos on the site...

Earth works began today, and had to be halted unfortunately. Some pieces of asbestos were found on the site, so these need to be removed. It is only a handful of pieces however for safety reason they need to go. The demolition people I used a few months ago will be visiting tomorrow and see to the removal. The other issues now is that EBH want all other bits and pieces of bricks removed as well, and a 100mm deep site scrape. Not sure if the demo company will do that without asking for more $$. It appears though they did not leave the site in an "ideal" state for construction.
Here you can see three shots of the site as it was after the demolition team left.. now I don't know if this is not typical or not... ?
'Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in..." argh..

Good news!
Good news for a change. All details have been finalized with the construction company and so work can commence next week (week of 16th February) weather permitting. Judging by the rain and forecast at the moment, it'll probably be delayed. Fingers crossed.

More pictures of the vacant block here.. as you know I am building with EBH.. surveyors have been on site and have pegged the place.. good news I guess. I shall place salt circles around the pegs and conjur up the home building gods to protect... uh.. for a smooth building process... yeah... right.
There is an easement to the right of the property (when you're facing it from the street) that needs to have the level of the pipe surveyed so will have to have that dug out.. won't be easy.
Construction certificate should follow....unless they try to screw me further..... clearly I don't know what I am getting myself into here.
Some pictures below.. I've spoken to the council and they have been waiting on Eden Brae to finalize some details since January 12th.. so EBH have been dragging their feet... they have also warned that there will be a price hike post February 15th... so I am far from impressed.. if it comes to that ($8K price hike), I will not be going ahead with them.. have lined up a tender with Clarendon already... we shall see.
